BRADENTON Derek Jeter Jersey , Fla. (AP) — Jameson Taillon will be the Pittsburgh Pirates‘ opening-day starter. Reds at Cincinnati, manager Clint Hurdle said Saturday. It will be the first opening-day start of Taillon’s four-year career.Taillon was 14-10 with a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts last season.“It’s a big honor to kick off the season for the boys, try to set the tone,” Taillon said at the Pirates’ spring training camp. “Obviously http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-giancarlo-stanton-jersey , I care about the body of work but it’s a big honor. Growing up as a fan of baseball, there was a certain (aura) about being the opening-day starter.”Chris Archer will start the home opener April 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals.“We put two men in play to represent the club and get us out of the blocks well in the first four games of the season,” Hurdle said.Trevor Williams and Joe Musgrove will pitch the second and third games at Cincinnati. The Pirates are undecided on a fifth starter. The MLB Player’s Association announced winners of the awards voted on by the players. Dodgers’ Matt Kemp was named the 2018 NL Comeback Player of the Year."This last season was a comeback in more than one way for Matt Kemp. Getting traded back to Los Angeles prior to the season was just the start. On Tuesday, the Major League Baseball Player’s Association named the winners of the annual vote on their peers.Kemp was announced as the the 2018 NL Comeback Player of the Year Mariano Rivera Jersey , finishing ahead of Clay Buchholz and Miles Mikolas. It was certainly a welcome development for both Kemp and the Dodgers after the outfielder wasn’t even guaranteed to make the roster when the 4-for-1 trade was completed last December with the Braves. The 34-year-old (33 during the season), posted a bWAR (1.1) above 1.0 for the first time since leaving Los Angeles in 2014.Kemp was a force on offense for most of the first half, slugging 15 home runs, 18 doubles and driving in 60 runs while hitting .310/352/.522 in 92 games. As late as June 16 Babe Ruth Jersey , Kemp was hitting .340 while commanding regular playing time on a team that loves platoons. The hot start to the year landed Kemp a starting gig in the Midsummer Classic as voted on by the fans. It was his first trip the All-Star Game since 2012.“For Matt to come back to Los Angeles and be voted in by the fans, I don’t think he’ll let on how much this means to him, but it’s well deserved,” manager Dave Roberts told media back in July. After an inconsistent second half to the year http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-giancarlo-stanton-jersey , Kemp still finished with a solid .290/.338/.481 slash line and hit 21 homers with 85 RBI.The 13-year veteran enters the offseason with more uncertainty, having only one year remaining on the original eight-year deal he signed with the Dodgers. The team could once again put him on the trading block for teams, this time with more value.

The Tigers came into spring camp with six start

Сообщение panxing18 » Июнь 11th, 2019, 5:24 am

The question then Alex Avila Jersey , is what to do with him?"ing pitchers, and only five spots in their rotation. A decision, made either by the team or by attrition, was always going to come due. We’re not quite there yet, with two weeks and several starts apiece remaining until Opening Day, but it certainly feels like Daniel Norris is the odd man out.If Norris isn’t going to be in the starting rotation to open the season, what is the Tigers’ plan for him? According to manager Ron Gardenhire, the team may take Norris north in another capacity. There’s no definitive statement in Gardenhire’s brief comment on the matter. But unless Michael Fulmer isn’t ready to go, there likely isn’t a spot in the rotation, so we aren’t exactly reading tea leaves to predict some kind of mixed-relief role. The Tigers’ skipper and his pitching coach, Rick Anderson, are known devotees of crafty lefties who can spot start, throw long relief, or pick up a late game hold situation on occasion. A guy like that isn’t easy to find. However, there are some pretty compelling reasons why this may not be the best use of Norris’ time.Norris is still a valuable commodityIt’s worth remembering that the Tigers still have three years of team control remaining over Norris. A lefty who had a 95 mile-per-hour fastball and four above-average pitches to offer before injuries took their toll is still very valuable even if he has lost a bit of zip off the fastball. Even if Ross or Moore work out and the Tigers are able to flip them in July deals, the odds of them returning a more talented young player than Norris are slim to none. Giving up on him as a starter this early in his career seems pretty foolish from that perspective. With no spot currently available in the rotation http://www.diamondbacksfanproshop.com/authentic-zack-greinke-jersey , the sensible move is then to option Norris to Triple-A to begin the year. That move would allow him to use all four pitches, pitch on a regular schedule, and try to reboot his career as a starting pitcher. For two seasons now, Norris has been in the wilderness dealing with ongoing groin issues, and enduring a lot of failure and frustration along the way. While he appears healthy, he needs plenty of reps to build himself back up. So, it’s likely that the best plan for Norris is simply to send him around for another approach to the major leagues.Optioning Norris to Toledo would also have another long-term benefit. If he were to stay in Toledo until mid-May, he wouldn’t advance a full year of service time in 2019. As a result, the Tigers would retain team control through the 2022 season. Other teams are busily gaming the next generation of stars out of their service time. The Tigers would be a lot more justified in making that move with Norris. They got little to no value out of him over the past two seasons, and the move to let jim build himself back up as a starter makes sense from a pure baseball perspective as well. There will be opportunities for him to break back into the starting rotation if he can get on a roll in the minors. We have a guy named Blaine HardyThe arguments for putting Norris in the Tigers’ bullpen aren’t very compelling. Sure, with Shane Greene and Joe Jimenez holding down the late innings, and several other useful arms available, adding Norris into the bullpen in a hybrid role could really strengthen that group into a modest plus overall. But this isn’t a team built to win this year, and using Norris as a Swiss Army knife won’t change that fact. Besides, the Tigers already have Blaine Hardy, and this hybrid role is his wheelhouse.Hardy has been the versatile lefty in the Tigers’ bullpen for much of the past five seasons. Last year he took things to a new level. Hardy made 13 starts Jake Lamb Jersey , with a 4.26 ERA and a 4.30 FIP. Those outings made up 67 2鈦? of his innings. In 18 1鈦? innings of scattered relief work? Hardy posted a 0.98 ERA and a 2.78 FIP, with much higher strikeout rates than as a starter. He handled everything that was thrown at him and continued to thrive. That experience makes him the perfect guy to turn to in a hybrid role, and Hardy is having a fine spring so far. He should have no issues slotting into Gardenhire’s plans. The Tigers likely won’t be emulating the Tampa Bay Rays with a planned mix of starters, openers, and bullpen days. So, having both lefties in the pen as long-ish relievers doesn’t make much sense. It could also be detrimental to getting Norris back to full strength as a starter. His manager’s desire to have him available for mop-up duty, on a team that isn’t built to win now anyway, is irrelevant. The front office needs to take this decision out of Gardenhire’s hands, and do what is best for both the organization and the player in the long-term.Nothing is finalizedObviously, a lot of the roster decisions a team makes are forced upon them by injuries or ineffectiveness. Presumably, Norris, Hardy, and prospects like Spencer Turnbull will be called on to start at some point if they are pitching well. Still, one has to wonder how likely Norris will be to get those starts if he isn’t stretched out for that role — something that will be difficult to maintain if he is in the bullpen. However they decide to deploy him, the ball will still be in his court to a degree. If Norris works his way back to the level we saw in his first two years in the major leagues, he will earn his opportunities. He was ranked by Baseball America as the #9 international prospect and #8 by MLB.com. The Twins gave him a $4M signing bonus which was their entire 2015 international free agent budget. He hit .299/.383/.471 at Elizabethton in 2017 and was named the #2 prospect in the Appalachian League. Scouts love his righthanded power and ability to play shortstop but a move to third base is possible considering the quality infield prospects the Twins have. He was set to debut at Cedar Rapids last spring but suffered an injury to his non-throwing arm. He had shoulder surgery last spring and missed the entire 2018 season. Expect him to make his Cedar Rapids debut this spring. A Twins debut in 2021 is possible but 2022 is more likely.Jorge Alcala, P2019 Age: 232018 High Level: Chattanooga (AA)Jorge Alcala was signed by the Houston Astros from the Dominican Republic in 2014. He made his stateside debut in 2016 and was dominant at two levels of rookie ball. In 2017 he continued that dominance in the Midwest League and earned a mid-year promotion to the high-A Carolina League. He began 2018 at that level but impressed with a high strikeout rate (10.5 K/9) while proving nearly unhittable (5.8 H/9) and limiting HR (0.5 HR/9). That earned him a promotion to Double-A Corpus Christi where he maintained his impressive production. He was acquired by the Twins at the trade deadline as half of the return for reliever Ryan Pressly. The scouting report leads with a dominant fastball clocked as high as 98MPH. His slider can be terrific or flatten out and become hittable and his changeup is just mediocre. Limiting walks has also been an issue throughout Alcala’s minor league career. If he is able to more consistently show his good slider he could dominate as a fastball/slider pitcher in the bullpen. If he is also able to refine the changeup he profiles as a mid-rotation starter. He is likely to start the season at Double-A Pensacola but could move quickly to the major leagues.Akil Baddoo, CF2019 Age: 202018 High Level: Cedar Rapids (A)Akil Baddoo was drafted in the second round in 2016 and was considered a toolsy work in progress with exceptional athletic talent (comparisons to Carl Crawford and Jacque Jones) but in need of refinement at the plate. Not unexpectedly, he hit .178 that summer in rookie ball. In 2017 it all came together in a hurry. He improved to .267/.360/.440 playing for the Gulf Coast Twins and was promoted to Elizabethton where he did even better. He hit .357/.478/.579 with more walks (27) than strikeouts (19) at Betsy and drew rave reviews for his approach at the plate. In 2018 he spent the summer at Cedar Rapids and thrived in a leadoff role. His batting average dipped (.243) but he did well getting on base (.351 OBP) and maintained his power (44 XBH) while showcasing his speed (11 triples, 24SB, 4 CS). The chink in the armor was a rise in strikeouts (124) and his struggles against more advanced left-handed pitching (.220/.304/.339) but considering his age he performed admirably. His grade 70 speed allows him to cover CF but his arm might keep him in LF in the majors. Expect to see him in Fort Myers in 2019 but by 2021 he might be making his debut in the spacious LF of Target Field.Blayne Enlow, SP2019 Age: 202018 High Level: Cedar Rapids (A)Blayne “Sweet” Enlow was picked in the 3rd round of the 2017 MLB draft out of high school but was signed for an overslot $2M bonus similar to the level of a low first round pick. The scouts use the word “projectable” often when describing Enlow which usually means the kid has a big frame (Enlow is 6’4”) and he should be able to put on enough muscle to make it as a starting pitcher. Scouts also love Enlow’s curve ball which was rated as one of the best in the draft. Enlow was sent to the Gulf Coast Twins after signing and he had a good summer posting an 8.4 K/9, 1.8 BB/9 and 1.77 Run Average in six games. In 2018 he skipped over Betsy and spent the year with Cedar Rapids pitching 94 innings with a 3.83 Run Average Mickey Mantle Jersey , 6.8 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9. He was 3 years younger than average for the level and battled through an ankle sprain and sore back in his first full professional season but still held his own. Enlow should spend the 2019 season in single-A as he continues to build stamina to maintain his fastball velocity around 94 MPH. The major leagues are not likely before 2022.Jhoan Duran, SP2019 Age: 212018 High Level: Cedar Rapids (A)Jhoan Duran was signed in 2015 by the Diamondbacks as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic. He moved slowly up the rookie leagues putting up pedestrian numbers in his first two seasons (K/BB around 2, Run Average around 5). He showed modest improvement in 2017 with an improved strikeout rate and promotion to low A ball but his ERA was still 4.24. His breakthrough came pitching for Kane County in the Midwest League in 2018 with a 9.9 K/9 before the trade. The Twins acquired him at the deadline as part of the haul for Eduardo Escobar. Duran impressed quickly by throwing a 7 inning shutout in one of his earliest games as a Kernel. He finished the 2018 season with a 10.3 K/9, 3.4 BB/9 and 4.65 RA9 in 100-2/3 innings in the Midwest League. Kernels manager Toby Gardenhire described Duran as having a “power sinker...he gets guys to chase a lot down in the zone. Got a really good arm, has a four-seamer he runs up there close to 97 miles per hour. He can sink it at 91, 92.” Duran is also working on a breaking ball and that third pitch will probably determine his future success at higher levels. Who were the most and least well-known Diamondbacks this year?"A couple of weeks ago, we posted a Sporcle which invited you to test your powers of recall and name as many of the 49 players to have pulled on the Sedona Red in the season just gone. 135 of you stepped up to the plate: only three of you managed to recall every single man (and I’m not convinced that result could be reproduced under laboratory conditions, shall we say1). At the other end of the spectrum, eight of you named seven or fewer. I would like to think that the doorbell rang, or a fight broke out between your pets, something along those lines to distract you from the task at hand. Because if you couldn’t even name one starting line-up from last season... The median score (half above, half below) was 33. But what I found particularly interesting was the percentage scores for each Diamondback, with a VERY broad range. The most well-known player scored a point on all but four contestants’ entries [and for those four, again http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-giancarlo-stanton-jersey , I am hoping it was a cat-fight which distracted you!]. The least well-known was a swing and a miss for 115 out of the 135 players who took part. I know Steven Souza wasn’t on the team MUCH this year, but seeing him below Jake Diekman was unexpected. Maybe that’s just me though, and given the results, I have to defer to Songbird! At the high end, I note the tight clustering of all three of our catchers - well, MAIN catchers, with all respect due to Chris Stewart... :) They occupied consecutive slots from #12-14, and it seems a bit odd for John Ryan Murphy to finish ahead of Zack Godley, Chris Owings and Yoshihisa Hirano.

He will earn $12 million in each of the next two seasons. The 30-year-old LeMahieu spent the previous eight seasons with Colorado at hitter-friendly Coors Field and won the NL batting title in 2016 with a .348 average. The Yankees signed former Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki last week and said he will be their starting shortstop. day night with the American League Division Series tied against the Boston Red Sox Matt Holliday Jersey , but they did not perform well in their first game of the series at Yankee Stadium. The home team simply could not compete in Game 3, as the Red Sox roared to a record-setting 16-1 victory over their archrivals. The Red Sox took a 2-1 advantage in the series and can close out the Yankees Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.Brock Holt, who did not play in either of the first two games of the series, started at second base and hit for the cycle. He became the first player in major league history to hit for the cycle in the postseason."Wow, that's the first one ever," the 30-year-old said on the TBS broadcast when he was informed of his history-making achievement. "We had a lot of fun tonight and put a lot of good at bats together."While Holt earned a spot in baseball annals with his performance, Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi had a magnificent game as he allowed just one run in seven innings. He threw 97 pitches in his time on the mound and 72 of them were strikes.Luis Severino had a brutal game for the Yankees Austin Romine Jersey , lasting just three-plus inning and giving up six earned runs before manager Aaron Boone pulled him from the game after three batters in the fourth inning. That inning proved decisive in the game, as the Red Sox stretched their lead from 3-0 to 10-0. Andrew Benintendi had the big hit when he drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double. That shot took the air out of Yankee Stadium. The crowd in the Bronx was roaring for the home team as the game started and in the early innings, but when the Red Sox took the lead and stretched it out, the noise lessened considerably as their team's chances for taking a 2-1 lead in the series disappeared.CC Sabathia is charged with keeping the Yankees alive in Game 4.Chris OMeara/Associated PressRick Porcello will take the mound for the Red Sox and the Yankees will send veteran CC Sabathia to the hill. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised by TBS.The Yankees are minus-120 favorites to win and force a decisive fifth game in Boston Thursday, according to OddsShark. The Red Sox are even money to win. Those betting on the Yankees have to risk $120 to win $100, while Red Sox backers risk $100 to win $100.Porcello had a 17-7 record this year http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-giancarlo-stanton-jersey , and the former Cy Young Award winner had a 4.28 earned-run average with a 1.18 WHIP. He struck out 190 batters in 191.1 innings.Sabathia was 9-7 with a 3.65 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He struck out 140 batters in 153.0 innings and gave up 19 home runs.Boone was low key after the game, and that's to be expected after his team suffered a 15-run defeat. "We have to flush this game right away," he said in the postgame press conference broadcast by the MLB Network. "We have no other choice." PredictionIt looks like the Red Sox have all the momentum after their huge win Monday night. However, it appeared the Yankees had all the momentum going into Game 3 after their win Saturday night at Fenway Park. They had displayed their power bats, and the Red Sox looked perplexed. That all changed as Eovaldi was on his game for the Red Sox, while Severino struggled badly for the Yankees.Sabathia is not likely to be intimidated by Boston's offensive show in Game 3. He will try to give New York four or five good innings and hope the Yankees can stay close. The Red Sox won 108 regular-season games and two more in the playoffs. If Porcello can give them the win and the series victory, they will be able to open the ALCS at home against the Houston Astros and ace Chris Sale will be on the mound.Look for the Red Sox to end the Yankees' season by winning the ALDS in four games. Friday Open Thread: August 17 Womens Marcus Epps Jersey , 2018 Merry Friday, everyone!Hey everyoneay or two, you’ll make it. We’re just a day away from more Vikings preseason football, as the good guys take on their practice rivals on Saturday and face the Jaguars. The Jags were a perennially poor team for quite some time, but they turned things around last year, mainly through their young and talented defense, and they hope to build on that. We’ll see if last year was an anomaly, or if they’re the real deal. I think they’re going to field a very solid defense, and I think the team will be tough again if Bortles and the offense can manage to fire on at least 6 or 7 cylinders. The team may be built on defense Ameer Abdullah Jersey , but their success will hinge on the offense’s ability to at least perform competently. If they don’t, and Bortles and Co. revert back to their pre-2017 performance (firing on 2 cylinders, both of which have poor compression), the team will falter. nds Sunday night Michael Deiter Jersey Mens , the Dolphins will be able to name their new head coach. He will immediately be looking for a new quarterback.According to Armando Salguero of the , the Dolphins have already decided to part ways with Ryan Tannehill, it’s just a matter of how. They’d probably like to trade him for whatever bag of beans they could get, but his $18.7 million salary for 2019 and $19.5 million in 2020 is something exactly zero teams want. That means they’re like to just show him the door and move on from the 2012 first-rounder.Tannehill is also said to be expecting this, which I guess shows pocket awareness.Salguero suggests they aren’t likely to be in the market for a big-name quarterback such as Nick Foles or even Teddy Bridgewater, which sets up something resembling tanking, even if no one wants to say it out loud. The Dolphins have always been willing to swing for the fences in free agency Michael Deiter Jersey Cheap , but if they don’t fill their roster holes that way, the losing figures to be organic. The only other quarterbacks on the roster at the moment are Jake Rudock and Luke Falk, though they could always draft one.Either way, Tannehill will be gone. The Tennessee Titans still don't know who will start at quarterback Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.Marcus Mariota was limited all week with an arm injury and is questionable for the second straight game. Blaine Gabbert started in place of Mariota in Tennessee's 20-17 victory over the Houston Texans ."I would say it's pretty much the same as it was yesterday," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said Friday. "It's probably going to take the next 24 hours to make a decision, but it's pretty much the same as it's been since Wednesday with a little bit of improvement from last week."The Titans will have left tackle Taylor Lewan back Sunday now that he's been cleared from the league's concussion protocol. Lewan had missed the Houston game after sustaining a hit from Miami's Andre Branch in a season-opening 27-20 loss to the Dolphins .Lewan spoke to the media Friday for the first time since taking that hit."I feel good," Lewan said. "I wouldn't have passed the protocol if I didn't."Lewan said he is much more careful about his health nowadays Isaiah Prince Miami Dolphins Jerseys , especially when it comes to concussions. Lewan also suffered a concussion and missed the season finale in 2015."I don't want to be that guy that's 45 years old and doesn't know his own name," Lewan said.Lewan said Vrabel texted him a couple of days after the Dolphins game to let the Pro Bowl tackle know that he wouldn't be playing against Houston. Lewan said he appreciated the gesture."Being stressed out about coming back is not going to help a concussion," Lewan said. "I definitely didn't get that kind of support in 2015. It was very, very cool to see a coach look out for the interest of his players. I'm not used to having that."Lewan said he doesn't remember much about the hit from Branch, but vowed that someday he would get even."I don't know if I was targeted or not," Lewan said. "I'm not going to sit here and pretend it hurts my feelings. If you're a good football player, people are out to get you. No bad blood there. I'll get mine in time."Branch was caught by television cameras shouting Miami Dolphins Jerseys 2019 , "Body bag!" at Lewan as the offensive lineman left the field and headed to the locker room after the hit. The NFL fined Branch $10,026 for taunting .Lewan said he doesn't remember much about the hit."I heard there was an interception, and I remember there were a bunch of people fighting," Lewan said. "But everything in the middle, I don't really remember."In other injury news, the Titans ruled out running back David Fluellen (hamstring) and tackle Dennis Kelly (illness) for Sunday's game. Linebacker Kamalei Correa was out of practice Friday and is questionable with a back injury.Offensive tackle Jack Conklin was upgraded to questionable for the first time this year as he recovers from surgery to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Safety Kendrick Lewis also is questionable with a foot injury after missing the Titans' first two games.

es have lost control.Needing a win at NFC East rival Dallas to have the chance to determine their own fate in the division race Dakota Allen Jersey nfl draft , the Eagles instead lost 29-23 in overtime Sunday ?even after tying the game three times in the fourth quarter.Carson Wentz threw two touchdown passes in a span of just over 1 minutes near the end of regulation. But Wentz and the Eagles offense never got on the field again after Darren Sproles' 6-yard TD catch with 1:39 left tied the game at 23."It was a tough loss. We knew the stakes of this game," Wentz said."We're absolutely surprised where we're at. We never envisioned ... a losing record at this point in the season," he said. "It's extremely frustrating where we're sitting right now."Right now, the Eagles (6-7) are outside of the top six NFC teams to make the playoffs. They had won two in a row for the first time this season before going to Dallas. And their next two games are at the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams next weekend before their home finale against AFC South-leading Houston. The Eagles finish the regular season at Washington.Dallas (8-5) has to win only one of its remaining games 鈥?Indianapolis, Tampa Bay and New York Giants 鈥?to clinch the NFC East. The Cowboys have won five in a row after their third overtime win at home in four seasons against Philadelphia."The way we all felt in that dressing room, you've got to hate this moment, you've got to hate this feeling, you've got to hate losing Infant Dakota Allen Jersey , and you've got to learn from it and you've got to move forward," coach Doug Pederson said, relaying what he told his team in a stunned locker room after the game. The game opened with what appeared to be a fumble recovery by Philly on the opening kickoff, with several Eagles players on top of the ball that clearly came loose. Linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill emerged from the pile with the ball. But after Pederson challenged the ruling of no fumble, and a lengthy replay review, the original call stood and the Cowboys kept the ball 鈥?even though the Eagles offense and Dallas defense had already gone on the field."Big pile, I guess. It's just unfortunate," Pederson said.Referee Clete Blakeman told a pool reporter that replay confirmed there was a fumble Discount Dakota Allen Jersey , but that it is difficult to determine after that unless somebody had clear possession and control of the ball before the pileup."We just didn't have that on this one," Blakeman said.Dallas, which got a 62-yard field goal from Brett Maher on the final play of the first half, was in Eagles territory and trying to set up for another field goal at the end of regulation when Dak Prescott was sacked on third-and-12 after the Cowboys called their last timeout. The Cowboys won the toss in regulation, and the game ended on Amari Cooper's third touchdown catch after the ball was initially deflected by cornerback Rasul Douglas. The ball popped up and was grabbed by Cooper, who had a clear path to the end zone more than eight minutes into the overtime."I feel for Rasul because the last play, the ball comes out quick, he plays it exactly how he's supposed to Super Bowl Dakota Allen Jersey ," safety Malcolm Jenkins said.An interception by Corey Graham set the Eagles up at the Dallas 2 midway through the third quarter, and Wentz threw a touchdown to Alshon Jeffrey on the next play. They were within 9-6 after the missed extra point. Before that quick score to finally get on the board, the Eagles had five punts (three times going three-and-out) and a fumble . Wentz never got another chance after his third TD pass tied the game."Helpless feeling not going back on that field," Wentz said. "We just didn't do enough early offensively, and that cost us." The NFL had plenty of issues internationally this season, but they’re still committed to the project. The league announced it would play five games in international markets this year, one in Mexico City and four more in London. While the schedule hasn’t been set yet, the league announced the home teams for those five games would be the Rams Johnny Hekker Jersey , Chargers, Raiders, Jaguars, and Buccaneers. This year’s Mexico City game was one of the league’s biggest flops, as the top-shelf matchup between the Chiefs and Rams had to be moved back to Los Angeles at the last minute because of shabby field conditions. But that wasn’t the only issue. The league planned for the Raiders and Seahawks to play in the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium this year, but that game had to be moved to Wembley because of construction delays at the new site. And with Tottenham playing home games at Wembley this year, the turf there has been less-than-ideal for both soccer and football purposes.

A Chiefs’ 2018 regular-season record predi

Сообщение panxing18 » Июнь 12th, 2019, 9:41 am

ction Here we are again — the start of a new NFL season!Over the past four years Khalen Saunders Jersey Womens , I have made predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs’ regular season-record and I’ve been quite successful (or lucky... yeah, lucky is probably the better word). In three of the past four predictions, I have gotten the record exactly right, and the other year I was a game off. Here are the predictions from the years prior if you’re curious to see them:2014201520162017Now that you know I’m not a liar, let’s see if I can get lucky again in 2018.How we do thisI’m going to use the same prediction metric as I have in the years past. I understand I was spoiled with Alex Smith’s consistency, and making a prediction for Mahomes will have much more variance. This means it’s going to be much more difficult to nail a Mahomes prediction, but that’s not going to stop me from trying.Anyway, the method we’ve used in the past is the following: Observe Reid’s record vs. playoff and non-playoff teams, use common sense to predict the current schedule’s playoff teams, and then use the records from prior years to build a prediction.I have chosen to change things a little this season with how I make the prediction. Last season, we used Smith and Reid’s record to build our prediction. This year we’re still using Smith and Reid’s body of work, but we will also include Reid’s first years with Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick as starters to help guide our predictions. Here are Reid’s records for the above years against playoff teams:Reid vs Playoff TeamsYearWLWIN%YearWLWIN%The important value we’re looking at is the 0.389 win percentage vs. playoff teams. We’ll use this number later. Now let’s see how Reid has done against non-playoff teams during the same seasons.Reid vs Non-Playoff TeamsYearWLWIN%YearWLWIN%Andy Reid has been phenomenal against non-playoff teams. A lot of fans like to complain about Reid blowing games vs. poor competition, but the opposite is true. Reid has been great vs teams who don’t make the playoffs. Now the last piece — a prediction for playoff teams on the Chiefs’ schedule in 2018. I break the teams down into three groups: Yes, Maybe, and No.Yes = The team will probably make the playoffsMaybe = The team could make the playoffsNo = I don’t see this team making the playoffsChiefs 2018 ScheduleOpponentPlayoffs?OpponentPlayoffs? Now, let’s fix some issues with these predictions real quickly...To start we have 10 maybes, two yes teams and four no teams. However, the AFC West and NFC West can’t possibly have four teams make the playoffs. At best, there should be one yes team Khalen Saunders white jersey , one maybe team, and two no teams for each of those divisions. This updates the numbers to be three yes teams, five maybe teams, and eight no teams. In years prior, we’ve taken the maybes and split them evenly into yes and no playoff teams. That leaves us a final mixture of seven yes and nine no.The predictionUsing the likely playoff and non-playoff teams as well as the regular-season records from above, we can finally make a prediction for the Chiefs’ regular season:( 7 * 0.389 ) + ( 9 * 0.789 ) = 2.723 + 7.101 = 9.824 winsSo my prediction for the 2018 Chiefs is 10-6.I have never liked predictions at 10-6. I feel like it’s a generic prediction, but if Mahomes goes 10-6 in his first season I would be quite pleased. What are your thoughts on the 10-6 prediction? What’s your record prediction? Drop it in the comments section and we can check up on it next year when we do the whole thing over again. The Re-Up: Tyreek Hill was excellent Sunday, and we still don’t know his ceiling Welcome to our new Monday morning column, called The Re-Up. I’ll write about some deeper thought I had about the game and finish with some fun stuff to ponder at the article’s end.Jake Roth-USA TODAY SportsBack in late June, Josh Webb — one of our Arrowhead Pride readers — sent in a question that I thought was rather thought-provoking. “If the New York Giants called and offered Odell Beckham Jr. for Tyreek Hill, straight up, would you take it?”We talked about it on our Arrowhead Pride summer radio program, and we posted the poll on our site. With nearly 4,000 total votes, 90 percent of you said you would pass on the trade*. On Sunday after the Chiefs’ 38-28 Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, you looked awfully right. Hill had three total touchdowns to go along with 169 receiving yards on, all the while Beckham finished with 111 and none. Now let me be clear.I am not saying that after one regular-season game, the debate is final. But after what Hill showcased, I believe it is now safe to say with 100 percent certainty you just couldn’t take that chance. We all know what Beckham is: one of the best receivers in the National Football League. But Hill — who remains the best punt returner in the NFL Khalen Saunders Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys , who is definitely faster than anyone else, who is paired with one of the greatest coaching minds in the history of the game — has a ceiling that is still unknown. “I mean that guy, Tyreek Hill, is unbelievable to watch,” Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said Sunday. “What a dynamic player. I don’t want to make any too crazy of statements, but he is one of the most dynamic guys. I don’t know if I’ve seen anybody better, the things he can do speed-wise, in all my time playing.”Over the years, it has become a coaching trend to remove players from special teams as they grow and develop, and become a more important part of the offense. But the Chiefs value Hill too much in special teams to make such a move. And it paid off on Sunday in the form of points.“I was getting ready to go out there, got my helmet,” Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt said. “Next thing I know, I see Tyreek catch it and do what he does. Once he hit the outside, I knew it was a touchdown. I was just like, ‘Let me sit back down. Good for him.’”Good for him — and really, good for the Chiefs. That punt return was worth six on Sunday, but in the grand scheme of things, it could be worth field position for the rest of the year. What special teams coordinator in his right mind will punt directly to Hill after that? And that will translate to better field position for the offense and Patrick Mahomes, who will use Hill there Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys 2019 , too.“I think everyone on our team is trying to advance their game and trying to get better,” Mahomes said after the game. “Tyreek’s really worked on his route running and everything in order to make himself the best wide receiver in the league. I think today has showed that he has improved in his part and has the speed to bring it any time.”In January, I posed this question: “Is Tyreek Hill one part of his game away from being the best WR in the NFL?”Hill had finished seventh in the league in receiving yards in 2017 with what he said was still a major part of his game missing: his route running. So he worked on it.He worked on it all offseason long. Hill understood that if he could improve his route running, it might give him an extra step or two on defensive players, and if he could get an extra step or two on defensive players, well then...Poof.That work showed in the form of a slant route Hill took 58 yards to the house Sunday.“It’s a [run-pass option] play and I had a slant so he [Mahomes] was reading the linebackers,” Hill explained. “I just have to run my route and be there. There’s a certain spot on the field that I have to be and he’s going to throw it there every time. Then after that, it’s history.” Maybe that touchdown doesn’t happen in 2017. And maybe that’s why — back then — a trade for OBJ might be a no-brainer.But it’s not that simple anymore, is it?—* (Big Blue View posted the same poll and 81 percent of Giants fans said they wouldn’t make the deal either, for what it’s worth)STAT OF THE GAMEAs first tweeted by Matt McMullen of Chiefs dot com, with Sunday’s win, the Chiefs are now 17-2 over AFC West opponents since 2015.GIF OF THE GAMEAlmost immediately after Hill’s initial punt return, I asked fans if they would send me the GIF of the play so I could post it to the website. I got this:TWEET OF THE GAMEFIVE QUOTES1. Andy Reid on Anthony Sherman and his touchdown: “I was telling [Chiefs Radio Network executive producer] Dan [Israel], he’s got crazy hands, man. You think of him as a sausage, so he goes out and he’s a sausage with hands. It’s a good thing.”2. Hill on his backflip touchdown celebration: “At the beginning of the game, I was watching the screen and one of their players did a backflip so I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to do a backflip.’ I had to show my athletic ability. I shouldn’t have done it though because I started cramping right after. It was a bad idea.”3. Chargers QB Philip Rivers on Patrick Mahomes: On Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes: “I think he has a chance to be a really Khalen Saunders black jersey , really, really awesome player. He has some arm power. I’d like to borrow his arm every now and then for some of those throws. He can really throw, and he’s really accurate. I hadn’t seen a ton of him, but he was really accurate today on some of those balls that just came out. He seems to have that he can throw it from any arm angle and he was poised. He was poised. He’s got a chance, and I just wanted to tell him after the game, whether he wanted to hear it from me or not, that he’s got a chance to be really awesome. Just be steady and keep going. He’s still a young player. He was solid today.”4. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn on the Tyreek Hill punt-return touchdown: “We’re going to watch the tape to find out exactly what happened, but we lost containment. We know he’s [Kansas City WR Tyreek Hill] one of the fastest guys in the country and we lost containment. He made us pay. That’s something we’ve emphasized — we’ve worked. We knew Tyreek was going to be back there. He was back there last year. I don’t think he got 10-yards last year back there. We just didn’t execute today.”5. Lynn on trying to find a way to rattle Mahomes: “There were times we put some pressure on him, but it wasn’t enough. When we did, he moved around and made a play. Anytime we gave him a chance to extend plays, he’s at home. He did that all through his college days. We just didn’t get enough pressure on him.”THE BIG THOUGHTThough Sunday’s game was fun, it was by no means a perfectly played game, and I think Chiefs head coach Andy Reid alluded to that in his press conference. The offense seemed more ready than I thought, but as Hill shined, three of the Chiefs other weapons—Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins—probably didn’t have the first games they would have liked. In addition, the Chargers had three wide open drops—two that could have went for touchdowns—in the first half of the game. If the Chargers make those plays that they should have, perhaps Monday isn’t as happy a day as it is for Chiefs fans. There is still much work to be done.POLL OF THE WEEK
